Reading = We brainstormed our Summer Reading Plans last week.  Please ask your child what they came up with for this summer. (pictures of the examples below)  The packets will be sent home this week and if Team Meyer returns them in the fall filled in they will receive a prize from the 4th grade teachers.  We are hoping it will promote more reading over the summer which will in turn help them be more successful within 5th grade.  They do not need to read in all 100 places, but rather there are some ideas to mix up their reading routine this summer.

Writing = Please check Team Meyer's letters to the future 4th graders for next year.  We reflected on activities and projects we have worked on this year.  My favorite part was the advice they came up for the kids next year.  This week we are going to finish up our Team Meyer Memory book and read a letter we wrote to ourselves at the very beginning of the school year.

Spelling = We will not have any more Spelling words this year.  Team Meyer took their spelling things home on Friday.

Content = This week we will be working with some of our last team building experiences as Team Meyer.

Reading  = This week we will be wrapping up the end of the year reading testing.  Team Meyer has been working extremely hard to reach their goals.  We are also thinking about Fact and Opinion to support our last writing unit of the year.

Writing = Our Opinion writing unit goes really well with our end of the year writing prompt.  The students have to weigh facts about technology in the classroom.  They are publishing these pieces tomorrow as well as working on their personal opinion piece later this week.

Math = Tomorrow we are completing our Dream Houses.  I think this is Team Meyer's favorite project all year!  Please check out the pictures below of the planning and calculations they have been making so far.  We are also going to put them in the hallway for all to enjoy so please be sure to check them out.  Later this week, we will be reviewing fractions.

Spelling = We are taking our end of the year spelling test to see where Team Meyer has grown within their overall spelling year.  There will be a "Summer Word List" that will be sent home Monday and we will work with these words this week.

Content = We will do many team building reflections this week and next throughout our content time.  As we wrap up the year it is a great time to make goals for the summer and future as well.

Reminders for the Upcoming Week
- We will be doing end of the year testing for Reading, Writing, and Math this week so please make sure your child is in attendance and well rested.

Monday 5/4 = Spelling Test (make-up from last week) and new words being sent home
**All Library books due as soon as possible**

Friday 5/8 = Spelling Test

Reading = This week we will be wrapping up Inferences and Unit 3.  We will begin our final unit of strategy focuses which includes looking at Cause and Effects, Fact or Opinion, and an Author's Point of View and Purpose.  On Wednesday, we will begin with Cause and Effect while analyzing the story entitled Beach Safety together as a class.

Writing= Last week, we participated in the "Great Mail Race" because we received a letter from a previous teammate of Team Meyer who now lives in Tennessee - Levi.  We wrote back to him as well as wrote to a state/elementary of our own choice (check out the pictures below).  We are hoping we get some letters back before the end of the year to learn more about the states/schools we wrote to.  Team Meyer did an excellent job writing their letters and addressing their envelopes to the schools.  This week we will begin our last writing unit - Opinion Writing as well as begin our end of the year writing prompt.

Spelling = Last week's spelling test had to be postponed because we had an assembly when we returned from our Field Trip on Friday.  We will plan on testing tomorrow.  Then we will also be getting new words tomorrow and testing on Friday (like normal).  It is hard to believe we only have this week and next week left for Spelling.

Math= This week, we will be reviewing and enhance our Geometry skills and vocabulary.  We will work on our Geometry journals and be working on our "Dream Houses".  Towards the end of the week, we will be testing over the Geometry concepts for this quarter.  I am excited for Team Meyer to hear about our "Dream House" project as we work with area and perimeter.  It is something I think they will really enjoy and get enthusiastic about while doing math calculations!

Content = We will be reflecting on our Field Trip from last week!  Please check out the pictures below and ask your child about it.  Team Meyer and Team Eaton did a great job while we were there and viewed/learned a lot of unique things in the process.

Writing = Last week, we worked on reflecting on our last writing unit as well as an Earth Day writing piece.  This week, we will practice some editing strategies, rejuvenate our idea banks, and work towards one of our final writing units together.

Spelling = After two weeks off with MAP testing, we are ready to hit our spelling for another couple of weeks.  New words will be sent home on Monday and we will test on Friday.

Math = Last week, we reviewed for and completed the Mathematics section of the MAP test.  Team Meyer worked very hard while working  through the problems, showing their work, and checking over answers.  This week we will begin to review concepts we have touched on earlier in the year.  One topic that we began to recall was two digit multiplication and the most efficient ways to solve those problems.  We will mix these in with geometry aspects as well.

Content = We will be reviewing and exploring more about the Famous Missourian = Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Please feel free to check out the links below which we will be looking at this week while reading Little House on the Prairie.  On Friday, we have our Field Trip to Mansfield for more hands-on exploration.  Please remember to send in the permission slip signed and $2 for admission.  Thank you all for your support as always!
