Reminders for the Week
2/16 Monday = No School - President's Day
2/17 Tuesday = No School - Snow Day!
Reading - This week we will continue to Infer and Visualize using the book Hurricane by David Wiesner. Please be sure to have your child write on their Reading Log this week about inferences they are making in their independent books even at home. On Friday, we will have our weekly Smarter Balanced reading strategy focus.
Writing - This week we are going to reflect on the Imagined/Adventure Narrative writing rubric and continue to plan our drafts. On Friday, we will be drafting our piece. Please be thinking of your ideas and share them with your family. The more we can create a mental movie of our stories the better.
Math - On Friday, Mrs. Castillo (our Math Coach) came in and helped us with an exploration with improper fractions and mixed numbers. Check out the pictures below and how your child what they learned. I was very impressed with what and how the students of Team Meyer helped explain the aspects of fractions to each other. This week, we will be adding and subtracting like fractions. At the end of the week, we will be adding mixed numbers and continue into it the next week.
Spelling - Since this week has become shorter with the snow day we will not be getting new words until next week. We will simply work with words common to fourth grade for these 3 days. Please look for new words on Monday.
Content - Last week, we began looking at Famous Missourians. This week, Team Meyer will decide which Famous Missourian they will choose for their 4th grade Famous Missourian Biography project. Check out the pictures below of us beginning our projects. They will learn where they were born, about their birthplace, childhood, 3 facts, a timeline of their life, and why they/were famous. If you want a jump start on the project or need help deciding who to choose be sure to check out the website below. On Thursday Feb. 26th, the 4th graders will be dressing up as their Famous Missourian.
