Spring Break March 7-14

Reading  = The week we will be making inferences to better understand a character.  The narrative text we will be analyzing is Peppe the Lamplighter.

Writing = Our Lego Writing Exploration has been going very well!  This week we will be beginning to write and create the words behind the amazing creations we have so far.  

Math = Monday, we will be reviewing and on Tuesday we will be testing over Chapter 9:Fractions.

Spelling = Team Meyer will receive new words on Monday.  We will work with these words throughout the week and Test on Friday.  

Social Studies= This week we will begin the exploration with our Famous Missourians.  This year we are thrilled to have more tech, around to help the students with things they need more guidance with.

Spring Break March 7-14

Reading  = Inferencing with fictional characters in Amelia's Road. Then at the end of the week we will review sequencing within a story and common and proper nouns in grammar. 

Writing = This past week we published our Imagined Narrative writing pieces.  We also worked on expectations for our Lego writing.  This week we will begin our writing pieces in groups.  Let the exploration with Legos begin.

Math = This week within Chapter 9, we will be reviewing adding and subtracting fractions.  We will also be multiplying fractions and by whole numbers.  Later in the week we will be begin to think about decimals.

Spelling = Team Meyer will receive new words on Monday.  We will work with these words throughout the week and Test on Friday.  

Social Studies= This week, we will be review on some key thinking of Growth Mindset.  We will also begin our Famous Missourians unit.

Monday 2/15 = No School

Tuesday 2/16= Library Check out

5th Grade Programs open for Registration

Reading  = This week we will continue to look at inferring through characters in poetry.  The two main characters throughout the poems change and reflect throughout the process.

Writing = We will be publishing our Imagined Narratives early this week.  We will also be working with Lego education to create another fictional story.  Team Meyer is very excited to try out the procedures and to get to explore with the Legos.

Math = Team Meyer will be receiving their Chapter 8 test back early this week.  We will continue to work with fractions this next chapter.  In Chapter 9, we will be working with adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions.

Spelling = Team Meyer will receive new words on Tuesday.  We will work with these words throughout the week and Test on Friday.  

Social Studies= This week, we will be working with Government.  Our next large unit will be working with Famous Missourians.

Special Lunch = Ott's Pasta

Reading  = This week we will look at inferencing with poetry.  The text we will be looking at is entitled My Man Blue and it contains a collection of poetry.  We will follow the two main characters throughout the poems and infer their feelings and emotions.

Writing = Our drafts of our imagined narratives are going strong.  This week we will be revising, editing, and collaborating with peers in our classroom to improve our writing pieces before we publish together.

Math = This week we will be reviewing all the concepts we have uncovered in Chapter 8:Fractions.  We have looked at fractions in general, finding equivalent fractions, simplest form, mixed numbers, and improper fractions.  Our test is scheduled for Wednesday of this week.

Spelling = Team Meyer will receive new words on Monday.  We will work with these words throughout the week and Test on Friday.  

Social Studies= Last week, we began to look at Missouri Government.  We started with the 3 branches: legislative, executive, and judicial branches.  This week we will look at the amendments and the roles we play within voting.
